If you have a BMW Airhead, chances are you’ve had to open up your instrument cluster in an attempt to repair the flex circuit bulb holder. Even if you’ve been in there only to change bulbs, you must have noticed the effects of age: corrosion, cracked brittle plastic, worn out or broken seals, electrical connections that have failed or are about to. No wonder — you’re dealing with an instrument that’s 30 to 40 years old! And guess what? Most Airhead instrument parts are No Longer Available. So KATDASH has developed a modern, solid state LED bulb holder unit that’s not just a replacement, it’s a plug & play UPGRADE! Simply unscrew and remove your old OEM unit, put the new KATDASH in its place, and restore your Airhead instrument pod to full function with all dash indicators and gauge illumination lights.
The all new KATDASH flex printed circuit board features ‘discreet’ (individual) LED lights soldered to the flex. The unit is assembled on a new reproduction of the plastic bulb carrier body, 3D modeled to match the original bulb carrier. No more bulbs, no more corroded connections for bulb sockets. No more trying to solder the broken copper connectors. No more testing the bulb only to find out the bulb is fine but the flex traces are broken somewhere unseen. And KATDASH has additional resistors in the GEN (Generator) light circuit for the initial “excitement” current to get your alternator spun up, and keep your charging system charging. Works with OEM alternators as well as modern upgraded alternator systems.
